Explore Kampong Glam and be the King/Queen of Insta-Glam with your incredible photos!

Kampong Glam is a Malay Enclave that started life as a fishing village. In the early 1800s, the British designated the area for the reigning Sultan, the Muslim community, as well as Arab and Bugis traders.

Today, the grounds of the Sultan’s ‘Istana’ (palace) is home to the Malay Heritage Centre, where you can get to know Malay history and culture better.

You’ll love the culinary delights here, from local delicacies such as nasi padang (steamed rice served with various dishes) and Malay kuih (‘cakes’) to Middle Eastern, Japanese, Swedish and even Mexican fare.

Shopaholics, head to colourful Haji Lane – a row of multi-label stores, quirky boutiques as well as hip bars and cafes. Or pick up traditional wares such as Persian carpets, kebaya dresses and handmade perfumes from Arab Street and Bussorah Street.

Did you know that this area also contains the most vibrant & colourful wall murals and street art?

Let’s get on our bicycles and see how many we can capture! Remember to #KampongGlam. Will you be the King/Queen of Kampong Insta-Glam?
