How many bicycle tours include a visit to a UNESCO World Heritage Site? This one does.

Starting from the Let’s Go Shop in the heart of the city, we get on the bikes and pedal north through glitzy Orchard Road. We’ll pass the Istana (Presidential Palace) as well as the entire Orchard Road – watch the various designer boutiques zoom by. Along the way, your guide will stop by a local cafe to grab drinks and local snacks for our ‘mini-picnic’  in the Gardens.

Suddenly, within 5 minutes of leaving busy Orchard Road, you are transported into a tranquil world within the Gardens.

Started in 1822 by Sir Stamford Raffles, the Botanic Gardens spans 82 hectares of lush tropical flora and fauna. Despite the continuous improvements and developments, the Gardens still remains faithful to its roots and heritage. Little wonder that it was inscribed as a World Heritage Site in 2015.

Take in the beautiful scenery as you enjoy the local snacks and drinks by Swan Lake. After the picnic, we will walk (cycling is not permitted to preserve the sanctity of the place) around the Gardens.

We resume cycling along ‘Embassy Row’ Tanglin Road, where some of Singapore’s costliest real estate may be found. A scenic ride along the Singapore River then takes us all the way back to the Let’s Go Shop.

Start & End Point

Let’s Go Bike Singapore. High Street Centre

The Botanic Gardens – UNESCO World Heritage Site

Founded in 1859 by the British, the Gardens played an important role in fostering agricultural development in Singapore and the region through collecting, growing, experimenting and distributing potentially useful plants.
The Gardens has been inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site at the 39th session of the World Heritage Committee (WHC) on 4 July 2015. The Gardens is the first and only tropical botanic garden on the UNESCO’s World Heritage List. It is the first in Asia and the third botanic gardens inscribed in the world following Orto botanico di Padova and the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.

Orchard Road – glitzy shopping street

Enroute to the Gardens, we will cycle along this famous shopping street where you can find everything from designer brands to $2 bargains shops. Asia’s most famous shopping street is home to fashion favourites, specialist stores and loads of other lifestyle choices.
Who’d have thought that over 150 years ago, Orchard Road was just a small lane lined with fruit orchards, nutmeg plantations and pepper farms?

Tanglin Road – ‘Singapore’s Embassy row’

Within a few minutes of the Botanic Gardens and Orchard Road is Singapore’s very own embassy row. Shaded by lush huge trees, one can easily understand why this is prime real estate and a popular choice for several countries to situate their embassies right here.

Singapore River

On this tour we cycle the northern length of the river where few tourists venture. See great contrasts in housing from public housing flats to premium riverside facing private condominiums. As our tour winds down, the party is just getting started along Robertson & Clarke Quays!
